A replacement tooth with its own root
Implant
An implant is the closest thing to getting the tooth back. A titanium post is placed into the jawbone to act as the root, the bone fuses to it over the following months, and a crown is fitted on top. Unlike a bridge, it does not require cutting down the healthy teeth on either side, and unlike a denture it does not move.
It is a staged treatment rather than a single appointment, and the healing period is the part people underestimate — typically a few months between placement and the final crown.
Not everyone is a candidate straight away: it depends on bone level, gum health and general health. We assess that with an X-ray first and tell you plainly if an implant is not the right choice for you.
